We've been waiting for an eternity for this announcement! Last night, it finally came!

HBO has FINALLY confirmed a premiere date for the final season of everyone's favorite binge-worthy series, Game of Thrones!

To say that fans are excited is a severe understatement. The final episode of season 7 aired on August 27, 2017, therefore fans have been waiting almost a year and a half for this announcement.

The premiere date was confirmed via the most recent teaser trailer for season 8. Watch it below:

Compared to the first six seasons, both the 7th and 8th seasons have longer episodes. Season 7's episodes were each a little over an hour, while season 8's episodes are rumored to be the lengths of a feature film. Seasons 1-6 also included ten episodes each, while the last two seasons have almost half that. That's the downside of season 8: longer episodes, but fewer of them.

Such a long time coming, but it's bittersweet to say goodbye.

The final season is set to premiere April 14th.
