Two Atlantic City men potentially face years behind bars after pleading guilty to gun possession charges.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on Thursday, 31-year-old Lenardo Caro pleaded guilty to an unlawful possession of a handgun without a permit charge and as part of his plea deal, is expected to be sentenced to six years in state prison.

His co-defendant, 33-year-old Robert Caro-Green, had previously pleaded guilty to the same charge and is likely facing the same sentence.

On September 24th, 2021, members of the Atlantic City Police Department and SWAT Team executed a no-knock search warrant at 1536 Mediterranean Avenue in Atlantic City.

Inside, officers immediately encountered the pair and they located a black Polymer 80 "ghost gun" loaded with live ammunition under the living room sofa.

While continuing the search in the upstairs part of the residence, law enforcement located one black Tec-9 machine gun, which was defaced, and one black Polymer 80 9mm “Ghost Gun”. In addition, law enforcement located two extended handgun magazines loaded with live ammunition, two compact sized magazines loaded with live ammunition, and boxes of ammunition.

Also inside, authorities say they found handgun molding kits, heat sealer bags, a heat sealer machine, CDS paraphernalia, and a safe containing a large amount of marijuana.

Sentencing for Caro-Green will be held on January 18th and February 14th for Caro.

Both defendants were released from jail pending their sentencing over the State’s objection.
