Atlantic City Hospital, Now AtlantiCare Celebrates 125th Birthday
Today is officially AtlantiCare Day in Atlantic County, New Jersey, on the occasion of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center celebrating its 125th Birthday.
It all started in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1898, with a modest 10-bed hospital … to what is now an elaborate, world class medical center with sprawling operations in both Atlantic City and Galloway Township … consisting of an award-winning integrated healthcare system whose team of nearly 7,000 that serves multiple communities at more than 100 locations in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May and Ocean counties of southern New Jersey.
The growth over the past 125 years is remarkable.
We had the opportunity to conduct a live on-air interview on Thursday, November 30, 2023 with Michael Charlton, President and Chief Executive Officer of AtlantiCare … our interview was wide-ranging in nature.
Over the decades, AtlantiCare has evolved and grown into the nationally recognized organization it is today. Whether we are adding services, creating jobs or piloting state-of-the-art technology, the needs of our community are always front of mind. We have become the best because those we serve deserve the best. Recognition of our 125th anniversary with AtlantiCare Day is an honor and I look forward to celebrating today and throughout the year, said Charlton.
AtlantiCare has already had a year of award-winning recognition, such as:
- 5 time Magnet designation.
- Leapfrog ‘A’ safety grade for the past two years.
- Named a “Best in State” employer by Forbes.
- The only comprehensive Stroke Center in Southeastern New Jersey.
- Joint Commission’s Gold Star Seal of Approval and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Heart-Check mark for Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification for the fourth time.
Today kicks off what will be a full year of celebrations.
