Atlantic County, NJ, Sheriff Rescues Bald Eagle During Snowstorm
It’s all in a day’s work for Atlantic County, New Jersey Sheriff Joe O’Donoghue. He has been busy rescuing humans and an American Bald Eagle during the massive winter snowstorm Hernando.
American Bald Eagle Rescued
This rescue took place early yesterday morning when the snow conditions were at there worst.
A beautiful American Bald Eagle, the symbol of our great nation was discovered injured and unable to fly at the Mays Landing, New Jersey courthouse (see above).
We caught-up yesterday with O’Donoghue, who told us about this rescue as follows:
O’Donoghue gave all of the credit to Steve Waszen, Jr., from Atlantic County Animal Control.
This fine gentleman from Animal Control, came out in the middle of this to save our Bald Eagle that landed on the court windows. The Bald Eagle was trying to get in and damaged a wing and couldn't fly. The Bald Eagle was rescued and taken to the bird sanctuary shelter, said O’Donoghue.
Atlantic County Commissioner Received Assistance
We learned that an Atlantic County Commissioner required transportation to the hospital for necessary care.
O’Donoghue handled the transportation, but, refused to discuss any of the circumstances, citing the privacy of the individual involved.

Winter Storm Hernando also featured hurricane strength winds.
