Nine years ago, It was Lisa Johnson who came up with the idea to hold a Cape May Dog Pageant.
It was great for Cape May, New Jersey and it shined the spotlight on a fabulous Cape Resorts establishment called “The Rusty Nail.”

9th Annual The Rusty Nail Doggie Pageant Returns On Saturday, September 19, 2026
The Rusty Nail in Cape May, New Jersey will unleash its 9th Annual Doggie Pageant from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm., Saturday, September 19, 2026.
This popular event will take place outdoors on the beach at The Rusty Nail — Beach Shack.
The Rusty Nail is located at the Beach Shack, 205 Beach Avenue, Cape May, New Jersey 08204.
The Dogs Will Compete In 3 Categories
dogs with the most social media votes will earn the right to compete in these 3 categories:
- Best Style
- Top Trick
- Musical Chairs.
The Grand Prize
The top dog will run away with a $250 Rusty Nail Gift Card and a bark-worthy doggie gift basket packed full of goodies.
There will be fun, along with food and beverage specials during this special event.
The Charity Proceeds
Will be donated to the Animal Outreach of Cape May County. This will directly help provide shelter, care, and love for vulnerable animals.
