A former emergency management official in Somers Point has pleaded guilty to a child porn charge and now potentially faces several years in prison.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on Wednesday, 74-year-old Roger B. Tees of Somers Point pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of children/distribution of child sexual abuse material.

According to authorities, an investigation began when Tees used his Yahoo account to save child porn-related material to a cloud account.

Once Yahoo became aware of the files, it contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which then prompted an investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

"Numerous videos and photographs"

Following a search warrant on his residence, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations-Atlantic City, and the Somers Point Police Department, uncovered numerous videos and photographs depicting children engaged in prohibited sexual acts on Tees’ digital devices.

Officials pointed out that there was no evidence that Tees engaged in his illicit actions while working in an official capacity as the Director of Emergency Management for Somers Point, nor while working in any role as a public servant.

Potential Prison Time

The State will be recommending a four-year prison term at the time of sentencing, currently scheduled for May 9th.

Upon his release, Tees will be under parole supervision for life and will be required to register as a Megan's Law offender.
