New Jersey Race For Governor Is Much Closer Than Reports Say
Despite what some will have you believe … the race for Governor of New Jersey is close … in fact, very close.
Latest Poll & It’s An “A Rated” Poll
TIPP Polling, from TechnoMetrica has the race between Jack Ciattarelli versus Mikie Sherrill, a 1-point contest among registered voters.
TIPP has an A-Rating from the highly regarded FiveThirtyEight.
With likely voters, it’s currently Sherrill with a 46 percent to 39 percent lead.
The poll was comprised of 1,524 registered voters and was conducted from August 25-28, 2025 and has a margin of error of +/- 3%.
At this point in 2021, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy was regularly reported to lead Ciattarelli by 15 to 20 points on a daily basis.
Ciattarelli Internal Polling
Has always had both the Murphy election and now Sherrill election as a margin of error race.
Murphy defeated Ciattarelli by only 3 percentage points in 2021.
National Media Is Using Old Polling Data
Either lazy or deceptive national reporting is presently using 1-month-old polling data, when much more current polling data is available.
Have You Noticed?
That political polling always seems to favor the Democrat candidate.
Do you remember in the weekend before the 2024 Presidential election … a so-called reputable poll had Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump by 3 percentage points.
President Trump defeated Harris in Iowa by a margin of 55.7 percent to 42.5 percent.
President Trump is presently suing Selzer & Co.; The Des Moines Register, and the newspaper's parent company, Gannett, for alleged consumer fraud.
Trump won Iowa by a wide margin for 3 consecutive Presidential election.
In 2016, Trump defeated Hillary Clinton (51.7% to 42.2%) and Trump beat Joe Biden 53.1% to 44.9% in 2020.
It’s Not Just A National Phenomena
In New Jersey, in recent years we mention how close Ciattarelli was to Governor Murphy. Also, Stste Senator’s Vince Polistina and Michael Testa were burned by bad polling.
Polistina and Testa both faced polling data which showed them trailing. Both went on to win by comfortable margins on Election Day.
