Second Dog Removed From the Home of Brick Couple Charged with Neglect
A second dog is removed from the home of a Brick couple facing charges for the near fatal neglect of another.
According to the Asbury Park Press, Keith Morgan and his wife Shauna Ewing Morgan consented to the removal of a 3-year-old Cocker Spaniel named Ady Thursday. A Monmouth County SPCA official says he received anonymous tips about the second dog.
Victor Amato, chief humane law enforcement officer for the Monmouth County SPCA, told the Star Ledger that Ady was recently groomed so it was hard to tell if he had been abused as well. However, Amato does not not believe additional charges will be filed against the Morgans.
The couple was arrested by the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office last week on counts of abandonment, failure to provide sustenance and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. Keith Morgan turned the 13-year-old Cocker Spaniel named Samurai to a Veterinary Hospital but originally told them he saw someone abandon the dog on the roadside in Wall in a plastic bag, malnourished, weak and covered in his own feces.
The Red Bank Veterinary Hospital reports that Sammy continues to make progress. According to an update on their Facebook page, he continues to eat and drink on his own.
