Who Can Replace Asm. Alex DeCroce? [AUDIO]
As legislators on both sides of the aisle continue to mourn the loss of Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce, they must also deal with the fact that business goes on in Trenton. A new leader must be chosen, and DeCroce’s seat must be filled.
No real decisions were made Tuesday, a day dedicated to remembering the man who served in the Assembly since 1989 and became the GOP’s house leader in 2003.

In an interview with Townsquare Media, Assembly Republican Whip Dave Rible said he’s confident the caucus will organize within the next week or so to pick a new leader.
“We don’t have an exact time frame on that just yet,” Rible said.
Beyond the leadership position, there is an empty Assembly seat in the 26th district.
Whoever fills DeCroce’s vacated seat would serve for one year before a special election would allow him/her to fulfill the term.
Rible was uncertain of a timeline for that replacement process as well.
“That will be up to the Morris County Republicans,” he said. “Just like a convention, that will be done by a County Committee Convention.”
The 26th District is represented by Joseph Pennacchio (R) and Jay Webber (R).
