According to the Press of Atlantic City, Officer Lucas Hill watched MacFarlane's 2011 black Volkswagen Jetta drive through the stop sign at 29th and Ocean Drive, jump the curb and continue across a grass lot and into the bay.

The car landed with the front tires in the water and the rear tires stuck in bay mud, according to police.

Luckily, MacFarlane was not seriously hurt. With help from Officer Hill, she was able to get out of the car and was treated for minor injuries at the scene by Avalon EMS. She refused additional treatment, according to police.

Macfarlane was arrested and taken to Avalon Police headquarters. She was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, driving without headlights and failure to stop for a stop sign.
