A teenager in Absecon was able to scare-away an armed robber thanks to a power washer.

Absecon Police say their officers responded to a home on Chelsea Road for the report of an attempted armed robbery. Cops say at about 2:45, a teenager was approached in his driveway by a man who brandished a closed folding pocket knife. The juvenile was able to spray the man in the face with a power washer. The suspect fled on foot through neighboring yards west towards Ritz Drive.

The suspect is described as a white man with a medium build, clean shaven, in his early twenties, approximately 5’ 10” tall, and was wearing a dark colored (possibly dark grey) hooded sweatshirt, black gloves, and dark colored long shorts or pants.

It is believed that at approximately 6:00 that evening, a person matching that description was seen in the area of the Field of Dreams off of 10th Avenue.

Anyone with more information or who sees a subject matching that description is encouraged to keep a safe distance and to contact the Absecon Police Department immediately (609) 641-0667.
