53 years ago today, George Jones scored his first number one country single with "White Lightning."

Written by J. P. Richardson, "White Lightning" would be just the beginning of a long and amazing career for George Jones. Over the past half century, he's had nearly 150 hit songs with 15 hitting the top spot on the charts.
