A chain-reaction crash on the Black Horse Pike near Fire Road yesterday morning began when an intoxicated driver slammed his car into a line of vehicles.

Police say a car driven by James Christian of Lakewood failed to slow down or stop when it ran into the back of one car, beginning the chain-reaction that involved a total of five vehicles, including an ambulance.

Three people were injured as a result of the collision.

An investigation found Christian to be in possession of a 9mm handgun and hollow point bullets.

According to Egg Harbor Township Police, Christian was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Assault by Auto, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition.
