If you travel northbound on the Parkway over the Great Egg Harbor Bridge, be prepared for another month of lane closures.

The Parkway now narrows to one lane before the bridge. Thomas Feeney, a spokesperson for the NJTA, said the closure of the left northbound lane is needed because the contractor is building an interim traffic crossover the will shift northbound traffic onto the new southbound bridge. The work involves grading, paving and drainage, he said.

A spokesperson for the Turnpike Authority said that the lane closure will be in place until at least October 20th.

Ouch.

Over the weekend, traffic was backed up for miles.

However, it will all be worth it, again from Shore News Today,

The new southbound bridge will be unique in New Jersey, with a 10-foot wide pedestrian and bike path connecting Upper Township and Somers Point. Pedestrians and bicyclists are normally banned from using the highway.

Be patient and give yourself a lot of extra time while traveling northbound on the Parkway over the Great Egg Harbor Bridge.
