A man with an arrest warrant out of New Jersey was one of three people charged in connection to a recent shoplifting spree in Delaware.

"Organized retail theft" in Delaware

This past weekend, Delaware state troopers arrested 44-year-old Oscar Mosquera from New York, NY; 48-year-old Alex Toro-Londono from Elmhurst, NY; and 28-year-old Dagoberto Vargas-Hernandez from Corona, NY, following what they described as "organized retail theft" from multiple outlet stores in Rehoboth Beach.

On Saturday evening, March 16th, a trooper observed a white Honda Odyssey tailgating another vehicle as it was traveling northbound on Coastal Highway in the area of Wilkins Road in Milford, DE.

The trooper conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the three people inside the vehicle.

During the traffic stop, Mosquera was allegedly unable to provide proof of insurance for the Honda and it was learned he had a warrant for his arrest issued by the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey.

An inventory search of the Honda was conducted, which led to the discovery of several tools commonly used for shoplifting, and over $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise from Victoria’s Secret, Brooks Brothers, Claire’s, Nike, and The Fragrance Outlet.

None of the men could provide proof of purchase for the merchandise, many of which still had security tags.

Troopers say they also located a counterfeit $100 bill in Vargas-Hernandez's pocket.

All three suspects were taken into custody and charged with multiple crimes.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
