Shots fired in Egg Harbor Twp., NJ; 2 teens charged

Two teenagers are facing charges after Egg Harbor Township police responded a shots-fired call this past weekend.

The incident happened around 12:30 AM Sunday at Fire and Delilah Roads.

Authorities say they received a call that a person "pulled out a handgun and fired shots in an unknown direction."

Responding officers were provided with a description of the vehicle and a direction of travel.

A short time later, an EHT officer located the vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop in the area of Delilah Road and English Creek Avenue.

Police say the driver, 19-year-old Kiyon Smalley of Egg Harbor Township, had an empty holster on his person and a warrant out for his arrest.

A 17-year-old passenger was ultimately released to his mother.

This past Tuesday, officers searching the vehicle found a "9mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine and several rounds of ammunition."

As a result, Smalley and his passenger are now facing several charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and possession of high capacity magazine.

No injuries were reported in this incident.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
