Kids definitely know a good song when they hear one, and apparently they know a good philanthropist when they spot one, too. For her many charitable endeavors and contributions, Taylor Swift will be the recipient of this year’s the Big Help Award at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Presenting the prestigious honor to the country starlet will be a widely acclaimed past winner, a philanthropist of a different vocation: First Lady Michelle Obama.
‘The Hunger Games’ premiere finally came and went, and according to Forbes, the film did even better at the box office than originally expected. And while this means major profits for Lions Gate Entertainment, it also means hefty dividends for the musicians behind the film’s soundtrack, including names like Taylor Swift, the Civil Wars, Miranda Lambert and the Secret Sisters. In the end, it looks as though Swift will take home the biggest paycheck, since she has two songs on the record.
While most celebrities are known for random party photos or the occasional didn’t-mean-for-anyone-to-see-that-moment snapshots, Taylor Swift recently retweeted a friend’s candid photo of her — playing dress-up. Looking like happy little girls enjoying a moment of delight, Swift and pal Claire Kislinger are decked out in charming dresses, and Swift’s appears to be a wedding gown with a matching veil of some sort.
Could it be true? On Thursday, it was reported that Universal is kicking around the idea of filming a sequel to the box office hit Dr. Seuss film ‘The Lorax,’ which stars Taylor Swift and Zac Efron. While this may or may not simply be a rumor, it seems Universal would have to be crazy not to at least consider the idea with as well as the first movie is doing.
An attorney in White Plains, N.Y. and another man are facing accusations that they pretended to represent Taylor Swift and then swindled $225,000 from a Los Angeles concert investor. The two men, attorney Emmanuel “Kojo” Bentil and Derrick “Suits” Robinson supposedly stole the money by ripping off Kachik Mouradian, the chief executive officer of Omega Alpha Enterprises, according to LoHud.com.
Everyone’s been talking about ‘The Hunger Games’ for months, and now fans everywhere are just days away from the premiere of the post-apocalyptic film based on Suzanne Collins’ bestselling book. Even so, those who absolutely can’t wait until Friday can hold themselves over with the film’s soundtrack, which drops today (March 20). Featuring artists like Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and the Civil Wars, the soundtrack is a star-studded musical endeavor with a country tinge, set to perfectly fit the film.
The polls are officially open for fans to decide which artist is worthy of the Entertainer of the Year and New Artist of the Year awards, which will be handed out at the 2012 ACM award show in Las Vegas. Taylor Swift is leaving nothing to chance, filming a funny video as a way of convincing fans to vote. Actually, her new kitten Meredith does most of the smooth talking.
Taylor Swift penned two songs for the soundtrack to the soon-to-be-blockbuster film ‘The Hunger Games,’ and the sweet blond starlet — who’s accustomed to writing from her own perspective — recently told Rolling Stone that it was nice to step out of her own mind for a change. ”It’s pretty intense writing about my own life, my own struggles,” she admitted. “It was almost like a vacation to get to write from someone else’s perspective.”
Billboard released their official ‘Music’s Top Money Makers 2012‘ list yesterday (March 9) and sitting atop the celebrity-packed lineup was none other than country pop princess Taylor Swift. With a mind-boggling $35 million takeaway from 2011, Swift is sitting pretty just above some huge names — U2 came in second with $32 million — due primarily to her ‘Speak Now’ record and the accompanying world tour.
Taylor Swift is the covergirl of the April issue of Australia’s Harper’s Bazaar, and this past weekend that timing seemed just right as Swift performed the 100th show of her Speak Now World Tour in the land Down Under. Kicking off her final leg of the tour, Swift took the stage Friday at Perth’s Burswood Dome for her 99th show and then rounded out her centennial Speak Now performance Sunday at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Perhaps it was Taylor Swift‘s recent ‘Vogue’ cover that inspired the editors of the Australian edition of Harper’s Bazaar to put the glamorous ‘it girl’ on the front of their April issue. Whatever the inspiration, Swift can be seen on the cover in a black and gold shimmering Gucci dress — priced at $10,000 — that nods to the ’80s with its bold, almost geometric pattern, but is more reminiscent of a swanky flapper dress from the ’20s.
