2016 CMT Music Awards Announce Duet Performances
The 2016 CMT Music Awards are a week away, and the performances are getting even more star power. CMT revealed that Dierks Bentley will join forces with Elle King for the television debut of Bentley’s new single "Different for Girls."
Bentley has previously said that he knew he wanted King on the song. He recently told Taste of Country he likes King’s music, funny tweets and fiery personality, adding that she reminds him of Miranda Lambert. So, he reached out to King and she said yes to the collaboration, which the two recorded together in Austin.
Billy Ray Cyrus has also been announced as a performer at the awards show. He will return to the CMT Music Awards stage for the first time in eight years for a collaboration with Cheap Trick.
Previously announced performers include Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan and Thomas Rhett.
A press release reveals that the show “will be filled with musical and television firsts,” including a performance from Shelton featuring Country Music Hall of Famers the Oak Ridge Boys of “Doin’ It to Country Songs,” which is featured on Shelton's new album, If I’m Honest. Urban will perform his latest single, “Wasted Time,” while his Ripcord Tour support acts, Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris, will join him onstage.
The 2016 CMT Music Awards are hosted by Erin Andrews and J.J. Watt and air live from Nashville on June 8 at 8PM ET/PT on CMT.
