An Atlantic City police officer is being credited with saving the life of a minutes-old baby in the city Saturday night.

The ACPD says Officers Robert Reynolds and George Mancuso responded to a home in the 200 block of Atlantic Avenue around 11:00 Saturday night for a report of a woman who had just given birth to a baby.

Authorities say the officers arrived to find a 22-year-old woman in a bathroom with the newborn baby still attached to his mother by its umbilical cord. The baby boy was unresponsive and not breathing. Officials say Reynolds grabbed the baby and began CPR. After a short period of time, the baby began to breathe.

The mother and baby were transported to the ARMC-Mainland for further care.
