Two men were found guilty on Monday of the murder of an Atlantic City man in a dispute that started with a minor vehicle accident in 2021.

Denzel Garrison, 33, of Atlantic City, and Laquine Demby, 35, of Pleasantville, were found guilty by an Atlantic County jury following a two-week-long trial of the 2021 murder of 28-year-old Jahmil Greenidge.

Man Killed Following Traffic Accident Dispute

The trial produced evidence that Denzel Garrison had a minor traffic accident with Jahmil Greenidge two months before the murder. The men argued over who would pay for the vehicle insurance deductibles, which led to a feud between them.

At about 8 am on May 19, 2021, Atlantic City Police responded to a 911 call for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the 300 block of North Tennessee Avenue in Atlantic City, they found Greenidge dead from gunshot wounds.

Trial Showed the Men Planned the Murder

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, on the morning of May 19, 2021, Demby drove Garrison to Greenidge’s home, where they parked and waited almost an hour for Greenidge to return home from work.

Garrison approached Greenidge from behind and shot him six times in the foyer of the apartment building as Greenidge was entering. They then fled the scene.

The Charges in the Case

Garrison was charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and creating a grave risk of danger to others during the commission of the murder.

The jury found Garrison guilty on all counts except for creating a grave risk of danger to others.

Demby was charged with murder as an accomplice and conspiracy to commit murder.

They both face life in prison. Both men have been held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since October 2021, where they will remain until sentencing.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 13.
