An early morning fire in Burlington, New Jersey has claimed the lives of two victims. 

The blaze reportedly started approximately 3 a.m. on Thursday at an apartment complex off Northgate Village Road, according to 6abc.com.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames at the Northgate Village apartments, but two people died.

According to 6abc.com, the medical examiner arrived at the apartment Thursday morning, indicating the victims were most likely discovered after the fire was under control.

The identities of the two people who died in the apartment fire have not been made public. It's just such a sad situation.

The fire marshal was reportedly on the scene and a full investigation into what sparked the blaze is reportedly underway.
