A day at a lake in Gloucester County, New Jersey turned tragic after the drowning of a teen.

Saturday was sunny and warm, a much milder day than we've had so far this summer. It should have been a day of fun for all who spent time outdoors but that ended up not being the case at one lake in South Jersey.

Teen Drowns at Lake Garrison in Gloucester County, NJ

The accident reportedly happened Saturday afternoon at Lake Garrison in Elk Township, according to Patch.com.

A 19-year-old who had been swimming in the lake, located off Route 553 (Buck Road), was reported missing just after 2 p.m.

He was located a short time later but sadly was unresponsive.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but died. His drowning has been ruled accidental.

The identity of the victim has not yet been made public.

Lake Garrison was closed the rest of the day Saturday after the accident and reportedly stayed closed Sunday.
