Wildwood, NJ Welcomes Back Famous Tram Car for 76th Season

Love it or hate it, it's an institution at the Jersey Shore, and Wildwood's Sightseer Tram Car is just about to power up for its 76th season.

'Watch the Tram Car, please! Watch the Tram Car, please!'

It's the command that haunts you in your sleep long after you've spent a day on the Wildwood Boardwalk. It can make you roll your eyes at times, but would you have Wildwood without it? I wouldn't.

Did you know that when the Sightseer Tram Car first debuted on the Wildwood Boardwalk in 1949 it cost only 10 cents for a one-way ride?

Get ready for the return of this Jersey Shore icon. Starting Saturday, May 11th at 12 p.m. during Mother's Day Weekend, the Tram Cars will transport riders up and down the boardwalk's 38 blocks on Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday May 19th, according to Boardwalk Special Improvement District.

Service expands beginning Thursday, May 23rd through Tuesday, May 28th starting at noon till just after Morey’s Piers close. Then, on Thursday, May 30th, the Tram Cars will run on a full 7-days-a-week schedule through Labor Day Weekend.
