As the NFL season gets set to kickoff, there are plenty of players with local players with ties to the old Cape-Atlantic League that are on NFL roster or on practice squads.

Lets start with players who are on practice squads or recently were released by NFL teams

  • Former Absegami star Abdullah Anderson was released by the Tennessee Titans, but was later signed to their practice squad.

  • Former EHT linebacker, Yvandy Rigby who played at Temple, was released by the Baltimore Ravens and signed to the New England Patriots practice squad.

  • JD DiRenzo (St. Joseph) an offensive lineman, was released with an injury settlement by the Carolina Panthers. He played his college football at Sacred Heart and then Rutgers, going undrafted in 2023.

Here are the local players who are on NFL rosters

A handful of local players made NFL rosters and will be appearing on Sunday's this fall, they include, former Bridgeton star Markquese Bell who plays for the Dallas Cowboys.

Bell played his college ball at Florida A&M and was signed by the Cowboys as a undrafted rookie free agent in 2022. He has played in 22 games, making 95 tackles.

Defensive tackle Austin Johnson (St. Augustine Prep) plays for the Buffalo Bills. Johnson played his college ball at Penn State and was drafted by Tennessee in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft and has played for the Titans, New York Giants and Chargers and has appeared in 116 NFL games, making eight sacks.

Wide receiver Bo Melton (Cedar Creek) is in Green Bay and his brother Max Melton (Cedar Creek) is a cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals.

Bo Melton has found a role as the No. 3 wide receiver in Green Bay, playing in five games, catching 16 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown after coming over from Seattle where he was a seventh round pick in 2022.

His brother Max was a second round pick in 2024 out of Rutgers and should have a big role in Arizona with the Cardinals.

Finally, former Vineland star and two-time Super Bowl champion Isiah Pacheco is in Kansas City for his third season with the Chiefs.

Pacheco has been a key player for Kansas City after a strong career at Rutgers.  The Vineland native is entering his third season with 31 games, 1765 yards and 12 touchdowns.
