South Jersey HS Grad Boosting His NFL Draft Stock At Senior Bowl
Many NFL Executives and Scouts are in Mobile, Alabama this week for the annual Senior Bowl which showcases some of the top College Football Players who are NFL Draft prospects. On the field for this week's practices and this weekend's game, a South Jersey High School Graduate is one of the players that everyone is keeping an eye on.
A Graduate of Cedar Creek High School in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, Max Melton, was the top Defensive Back for Rutgers University in the last two College Football seasons. He is the younger brother of Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Bo Melton.
Voted Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Team for the 2022 and 2023 College Football season, Max Melton has been one of the leaders on a Rutgers Defense that allowed just 21.2 Points Per game this past season. The Defensive Back from Mays Landing, New Jersey has compiled Eight Interceptions and 62 Solo Tackles over the last three seasons.
Max Melton has already made an impact the first two days of practice at the Senior Bowl, clocking in at 20.96 MPH, making him one of the Fastest Players on the field in Alabama this week. Also, Inside the Birds Eagles Insider and Reporter Geoff Mosher tells 973 ESPN that Melton was in the middle of the huddle pre-practice giving a Pep Talk to the American Team Defense.
Along with his display of Speed and Leadership Skills, Max Melton has also shown the ability to be a playmaker this week. On Day Two of Senior Bowl practice, he forced a fumble against USC Wide Receiver Marshawn Lloyd, proving to everyone in attendance he is a well-rounded Cornerback Prospect for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Max Melton will also have another opportunity to show NFL Scouts and Executives what he can do because he has been invited to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. The annual event is hosted at Indianapolis Colts' Lucas Oil Stadium and Defensive Backs are scheduled to work out on March 1st.
