Middle Township Gets $570,000 for Playground, Housing Upgrades
Cape May Court House, N.J. — Middle Township is getting $570,000 in state grant money for two different projects.
Playground Upgrades
The larger chunk, $400,000, is headed to the Martin Luther King Community Center in Whitesboro to install ADA-accessible playground equipment.
The upgrade will open up the space to children with mobility and sensory disabilities while bringing the center into full Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.
Housing Rehabilitation Program
The remaining $170,000 will go toward the township's Housing Rehabilitation Program, which has been doing important work in Middle Township for years.
The funding will cover critical repairs on roughly eight low-income housing units, including fixes to keep roofs from leaking, bring homes up to code, and let working families and seniors on fixed incomes stay in their homes instead of being forced out by a repair they can't afford.
Both grants come from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Small Cities Community Development Block Grant program.
