• Malik Waddell gets 3 years in prison after drug arrests in Atlantic City

An Atlantic County man is headed to prison on drug charges.

On Thursday, 32-year-old Malik Waddell from Pleasantville was sentenced to three years concurrent for third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and third-degree possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

On September 25th, 2024, Atlantic City Police Department officers saw multiple people approach Waddell in the area of New York and Atlantic Avenues. They saw him reach into his fanny pack and remove wax folds containing suspected narcotics. Police arrested Waddell and they found approximately 30 wax folds of heroin and fentanyl.

Two months later, officers saw Waddell and another individual engage in a drug transaction in the area of Renaissance Plaza. Police approached Waddell and he fled. As he tried to jump over a fence, he fell. In the process, officers saw him toss three wax folds containing fentanyl into a nearby trashcan. He was arrested at the scene.

Assistant Prosecutor Brooke Melissa Hoffner represented the State in this matter.
