Pleasantville, NJ, Man Facing Gun Charges After Police Foot Pursuit

A Pleasantville man is facing gun-related charges following a foot pursuit with police Thursday afternoon.

Officials with the Pleasantville Police Department say Sgt. Craig Dennis was patrolling the area around West Pleasant Avenue and Main Street on foot around 2:45 when he attempted to stop 30-year-old Lamar Parrish of Pleasantville.

According to police, Parrish fled from Sgt. Dennis and a foot pursuit was initiated.

Parrish, who police say was "clenching his waistband while fleeing," was eventually apprehended.

A check of the immediate area of flight resulted in, Sergeant Dennis and Officer Jeffery Beras recovering a defaced 9mm Smith and Wesson with hollow point bullets.

Parrish was charged with possession of a weapon, obstruction of law, possession of hollow nose bullets, possession of a firearm by a certain person not to carry, and additional weapon offenses.

He was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a hearing.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
