Police: 2 Charged in Armed Robbery at Family Dollar in Gloucester County, NJ
Two people are facing charges after an alleged armed robbery at a Family Dollar store in Gloucester County earlier this month.
Franklin Township Police say the incident took place just after 4:00 Sunday afternoon, June 11th, at the store on West Blvd. in Newfield.
According to authorities, their investigation revealed that 49-year-old Armando Gomez and 38-year-old Elizabeth Rosario, both of Vineland, entered the store and began shoplifting items.
When [Gomez] was approached by the store clerk, he brandished a handgun and fled the scene in a dark colored Lexus towards Vineland.
The next day, police were able to determine that the pair was in a trailer in North Vineland.
Detectives from the Franklin Township and Vineland Police Departments and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office were able to apprehend both subjects during a motor vehicle stop after they were seen leaving the trailer.
Gomez was charged with armed robbery, simple assault, and shoplifting and was committed to the Salem County Correctional Facility to await a detention hearing.
Rosario was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court date.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
