Congrats are in order for Reba McEntire. The singer’s new series ‘Malibu Country’ has been picked up by ABC. The pilot was given the greenlight earlier this year and now the series is a go. Reba shared the good news via Twitter and confirmed that she’ll be working with comedienne Lily Tomlin, too.

McEntire tweeted: “Congrats to everyone associated with “Malibu Country”! We got picked up!! We’re going to have so much fun! Can’t wait to get to work!”

She followed that post up with more information about the series, writing: “Okay, for those of you who do not know what “Malibu Country” is, it’s a new sit-com on ABC that I get to act in along with Lily Tomlin!!!”

On ‘Malibu Country,’ Reba will star as a Nashville mom who is abandoned by her musician husband. He takes most of their money, which forces her to relocate to Malibu, Calif. to try and relaunch her career as a singer. Professional aspirations aside, she also has to deal with her responsibilities as a mother, keeping her three kids on the up and up in a new and foreign environment which is more materialistic than they are used to.

Tomlin will star as the mother of Reba’s character.

The date and time that ‘Malibu Country’ will air is TBD as of right now.

Reba (and her bright red hair) are familiar on the small screen. She starred in the eponymous series ‘Reba,’ which was on air from 2001 through 2007. It was broadcast on The WB for part of its run and on The CW for the other.
