EAGLESWOOD — A small plane crashed in southern Ocean County Tuesday night.

The FAA said a Stinson single engine 108-2 plane crashed around 8:30 p.m. on Laurel Hill Lane in Eagleswood, which is located off Route 9 near the Eagleswood Elementary School and a mile northeast of Eagles Nest Airport.

The airport is next to the Garden State Parkway north of Exit 58 for Route 539.

The pilot was the only person on board, according to the FAA, which said it would investigate. State Police in a tweet said the pilot was not injured.

Video from CBS New York showed the fire and police responding to a heavily wooded area.

Ocean County Sheriff Mike Mastronardy told New Jersey 101.5 late Tuesday there had been no evacuations of the area and that fire and emergency crews were on the scene. He said there was "concern" about a possible fuel leak.

The crash is the second involving a small plane in New Jersey in the past two days. Two people on board were killed when a Lear Jet crashed outside Teterboro Airport on Monday afternoon.
