South Jersey Prison Guard Busted For Drug Dealing
How the tables have turned for this guy...
NJ.com reports that a prison guard from Burlington County is switching roles: he's now headed to jail. Long story short, this guy was apparently dealing drugs to the inmates at the jail through which he was employed.
Steven B. Saunders has been sentenced as of this past Friday to seven years behind bars for selling and distributing contraband to inmates in exchange for money. Other charges included bribery and official misconduct; the latter of the two seems pretty obvious.
Saunders reportedly conspired with an inmate and the inmate's girlfriend to funnel tobacco, marijuana, and opioids into the correctional facility.
The state Attorney General made a point to emphasize that corrupt officers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
