Tim McGraw has a new literary project in the works, and this time around, the book will be a collaboration with presidential historian Jon Meacham. The Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer (and Vanderbilt University professor) and McGraw have teamed up for Songs of America: Patriotism, Protest and the Music That Shaped a Nation, a project that will look at some of the country's most iconic songs through the lens of the political culture that produced them.

According to Rolling Stone, the new book is due for release on June 11, and will take a look at classic American songs such as Bruce Springsteen's iconic "Born in the U.S.A." and "The Star Spangled Banner," the country's national anthem. Both of the book's authors will offer insight into each tune, using their distinct perspectives on music and American history.

McGraw and Meacham previously appeared in conversation together in 2015, according to the Tennesseean, after Meacham became that year's recipient of the Nashville Public Library Foundation's Literary Award. During that event, the pair were slated to discuss Meacham's book, Destiny & PowerThe American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush.

Songs of America is actually one of two literary endeavors that McGraw is working on right now. Earlier in March of 2019, the country star shared that he will detail his personal health and fitness journey in another new bookGrit & Grace, which is set for release in November. In contrast to Songs of AmericaGrit & Grace will offer readers a look into McGraw's own evolution toward physical well-being, including his decision to give up alcohol in 2008.

Additionally, the new project does not mark the first time McGraw has ventured into the world of politics. In 2018, McGraw joined Michelle Obama's When We All Vote Campaign alongside his wife, fellow country superstar Faith Hill. The pair appeared alongside other celebrities in a video spot aimed at encouraging viewers to register to vote and make their voice heard in every election.
