Brantley Gilbert and Wife, Amber Cochran, Expecting Baby No. 2
Brantley Gilbert and his wife, Amber Cochran, are going to be new parents for the second time -- and this time, it's a girl! The country star shared the good news via People on Tuesday (March 26), including snapshots from the couple's sex reveal party, where they learned that a daughter would be joining their family.
The pictures show Gilbert holding his 16-month-old son, Barrett, as Cochran pulls on a string attached to a box above their heads. Two close family friends had stuffed the box with confetti and small balls representing the unborn baby's gender -- pink for a girl, blue for a boy -- but the parents-to-be had no idea yet which to expect.
Gilbert accidentally got a sneak peek, however, when one small pink ball fell on the grand ahead of the flood of of pink that exploded out when the box was opened. "I didn't see it," Cochran laughingly insisted to People of that first ball. "I was so busy watching Barrett, but I saw the look on Brantley's face. And then when the box finally opened, it was amazing. There was all this pink girl confetti, balls and stuff everywhere."
Brantley Gilbert Admits He's Terrified of Having a Baby Girl
The reveal was emotional for everyone, but no one was more touched than Gilbert, who can be seen overcome by tears in the subsequent photographs. "Oh, I cried!" he told People. "I was so sure it was a boy. I wasn't ready for it to be a little girl -- and man when it was! I just wanted a healthy, happy baby, but a little girl means a whole other deal."
Gilbert, who has often said that becoming a parent has been a big influence on his music over the past few years, admits that he's a big softie when it comes to his son. "I'm just mush with Barrett," he says. "But I'm getting where I'm okay letting him tough it out. I think a girl is gonna be a whole new level of everything, and I'm ready. I already know she's gonna own me, and that's okay."
Gilbert and his wife welcomed their first child in late 2017, after struggling to conceive for a couple of years. The hometown sweethearts -- who broke up for a number of years while Gilbert's career was on the rise and he was struggling with addiction -- got married in 2015.
