If you haven't seen the Ocean City Boardwalk in the past few days, you're in for a bit of a surprise.

I took a walk on the Ocean City Boardwalk Tuesday afternoon and was surprised to see that a big chunk of the normally pristine walkway was being torn-up.

A long-term reconstruction project started a few days ago that will run from 5th to 12th Streets. At the moment, the boardwalk in front of Wonderland Pier is blocked off. Over the next several months, the boards will be removed, the concrete structure that supports the walkway will be demolished, and a new wooden substructure will be built. In addition, some of the ramps will be modified -- some removed and some made safer. The city hopes to have much of the work done by the end of March.
