The newly-crowned Miss America, Nia Franklin, stopped by to chat with Joe and Jahna about her experience.

Nia Franklin, former Miss New York, was crowned Miss America two weeks ago. She stopped by the Cat Country studio to chat with the morning show about all she's been up to since the ceremony at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Her social impact statement can be summarized by saying that she stressed the importance of arts in education and equal opportunities for all. Franklin is a no-nonsense go-getter who's super sweet with a kind heart just looking to make a difference in the world.

She hopes that her year as Miss America serves as one to inspire many generations of women to come. Franklin expressed her gratitude for receiving this title and intends to use it as a platform to shed light on a number of social issues that are important to her.
