If you listen to the Cat Country 107.3 Morning Show with Joe and Jahna, or if you are friends with me on Facebook, you know I haven't exactly taken the outbreak of the coronavirus seriously.

Yes, I make jokes.

That doesn't mean I don't care. Not at all.

I just like to laugh. Hopefully, at least on occasion, I've somehow made you giggle or smile - or, spit your orange kool-aid out through your nose because you were laughing so hard.

Do I know the coronavirus situation is serious, and potentially catastrophic? Of course.
I have however, attempted not to be the voice of gloom and doom. I'd rather be the distraction that takes you away from the gloom and doom, if only for a short few minutes.

That's kind of the focus of our radio station, too. Sure, we'll inform and update you on information you need, but we also want to be your escape from time to time. Maybe a three minute song will take you away from "real life." Instead of worrying how many people in your county are hit by the virus, maybe Jahna and I can share a story to make you laugh, and help you temporarily forget your troubles.

The truth is, I don't know what you're going through. I don't know your mental state. You could be worried and afraid. Maybe you fear for an elderly relative or someone with a compromised immune system. Maybe you're worried about your job, or where your next meal will come from. Please know that just because I laugh, it doesn't mean I don't care.

We all handle stressful situations in different ways. The best we can do for one another is to be there in whatever ways we can. So, I'll be here - we'll be here, just in case you need to chuckle or for a quick three minute escape.

One more thing. Please take this "situation" as an excuse to check in on friends and family. Reach out and make them laugh, or be a strong shoulder for them to cry on.
Look, we all need each other. You might need me to find out what's open next week. I need to listen to our show so our ratings get better:)
