Feeling Stuck? It Might Be Time To Try Your Luck….
Today is National Take a Chance Day! Time To Take a Chance...
I can relate to this day this year because the last twelve months have had me consumed with calculating risk-factors of decisions that had to be made. I've taken a lot of chances over the last year, from this job, a big move, love, you name it. This year, I've done it.
Weighing your options and chasing your dreams is actually one of the most terrifying bets you ever place. Chasing your dreams for a lot of us means giving up stability, the known, in exchange for the unknown. The unknown is scary. In fact, it's one of the most frightening places to exist. It's also one of the most exciting, most educational, and most rewarding states of life to be. You can't grow into the person you're meant to be without leaving your comfort zone. Sometimes, we need to be reminded to push our own envelopes.
If you feel stuck, if you're ready for a change, or if you've been waiting for the right moment to start pursuing what you've always wanted to, news flash: only you have the power to make it happen. Nobody is going to hand it to you. If you're surrounded by people that put down your dream or tell you it's too late, well, you have two choices: stay comfortable in the life that you're familiar with or take a chance on the unknown.
But what if you fail? Yes, that definitely might happen. So what do you do? You get up and try again! Calculate your risks. Take one small chance today. Maybe, not life-altering. The more you take, the more you want to take more! Just be confident in every decision you make and know that you will most definitely make a mistake. That's okay! Life's full of twists and turns.
One of my favorite quotes is from a movie that I LOVED as a teenager called 'I Love You, Beth Cooper'. The character Rich is obsessed with movie quotes. He finally says something that's not from a film, but from his heart, when his best friend is deterred from pursuing his dream. He says "You're not alive unless you're living."
Remember that today.
