Girl, 11, Nearly Drowns in Brigantine Resort Pool, Hospitalized
An 11-year-old girl nearly drowned Saturday afternoon in the pool at Legacy Resorts in Brigantine.
Brigantine Police say they were called to the resort after the report of a missing child and found the child near the bottom of a pool with cloudy water.
Brigantine Police posted about the incident on Facebook, saying that they responded to Legacy Resorts at approximately 3:22pm Saturday, June 5 after the report of a missing girl.
When noticing the pool water was cloudy, Officer Panas decided to enter the pool to check for the missing child.
The child, an 11 year old female, was located at the bottom of the pool. Officer Panas swam the female to the edge of the pool where Sgt. Devine and Ofc. Ludy began CPR. The child was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and was later transferred to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Her condition is not immediately available.
Brigantine Police, assisted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office conducted an investigation that found that the girl was playing in the pool area. The incident appears to have been accidental in nature.
