The snow has been sticking around in parts of New Jersey with all this cold weather we've been having.

My driveway is still pretty slippery, especially in the morning when temperatures drop overnight.

I was driving to work the other morning and it was 5 degrees!

With temperatures expected to rise above freezing this weekend, it will be a much-needed break from this extreme bitter cold.

It's crazy when 40 degrees is considered a break!

Although it won't feel quite as cold, you still have to be careful of slippery conditions this time of year.

The last thing you need is to end up in the hospital with a broken wrist or a concussion from slipping on ice and smacking the back of your head.

Dr. David Webner, of Virtua Health, told CBS News Philadelphia that they're seeing a lot of slip-and-fall injuries and broken bones.

Dr. Webner says they're also seeing more lower back injuries from slipping on ice.

It happened to me last winter.

I was walking out to my car when I didn't see a patch of ice on the sidewalk and was launched into the air for a split second before coming down hard right on my back.

It was so painful.

Never want to experience that again.

It's a good reminder to always be on the lookout for slippery spots.

Dr. Webner says it's important to take slow, with short steps, and watch where you're walking.

It's good to wear flat shoes or boots with a good grip.
