Popular South Jersey Gym Finally Ready for new facility in Sea Isle City
Over the last 15 years, many New Jersey Coastal Communities have undergone makeovers to the look of their towns, and numerous small businesses have either changed ownership or rebuilt their properties.
From the devastating impact of Hurricane Sandy in 2012 to the economic upheaval of the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020, numerous South Jersey Businesses have been forced to evolve and pivot to keep up with the changing world. Many small business owners have been forced to change how they reach customers or what facilities are home to their business operations.
After undergoing their own makeover, this business is finally reopening after being closed for almost 19 months in a complete tear-down and rebuild.
Located on Landis Avenue between 44th and 45th Streets, Atilis Gym has been closed since December 2024 when the old building was torn down. The demolition was approved by the Sea Isle City Planning Board in Fall 2024, as the Lambert Family wanted to offer a brand new facility to the popular Jersey Shore Community off Garden State Parkway Exit 17.
Owner of the original Atilis Gym in Wildwood, Chris Lambert purchased the property with the gym in 2014, and oversaw an extensive remodel of the old gym. Twelve years later, his son, Cody, is the primary operator of the Sea Isle City Atilis Gym.
When I first spoke to Cody Lambert about the demolition in December 2024, he said the plan was for the new Atilis Gym to open in Sea Isle City for Summer 2026. But Sea Isle City sources tell Townsquare Media that the Grand Opening of the new property was delayed by Atlantic City Electric taking "an abnormally long time" to come out to connect the new building to the nearby electric poles.
Cody Lambert replied to my inquiries this week, and told me that the new gym "passed all of our inspections", and the gym will be officially opening the doors on Wednesday, July 15th. Here is the official statement from the Atilis Gym Sea Isle City social media account:
"It’s official…Atilis Gym Sea Isle City opens TOMORROW (Wednesday, July 15th) at 9:00 AM! We’ve worked hard to build a place where this community can train, grow, and get together. We hope you all love it! From our family to yours, we truly thank you for the support! Let’s officially kick off an incredible summer together."
The new Atilis Gym on Landis Avenue is one of many changes around Sea Isle City over the last 20 years:
