A 13-year-old boy is facing charges after a disturbing video was shared on a social media messaging app over the weekend.

The unnamed juvenile has been charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child for, according to police, "creating child pornography and sharing the same on SnapChat."

On Friday, parents alerted the Egg Harbor Township Police Department to a video containing pornographic content between juveniles that had been posted to that platform.

The disturbing video, which depicted a teenager and a younger child engaging in sexual conduct, was reported to have been viewed and circulated amongst high school and middle school students in Egg Harbor Township.

After a brief investigation, the teenager was charged and lodged in a juvenile detention facility.

Members of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office were able to alert SnapChat to have the video removed, however, it is likely still making its rounds on the internet.

We ask that parents report the video to SnapChat should you find it circulating at this time.

Police ask anyone with a copy of the video to delete it from not only any personal devices but also from any cloud-based backup services.

Retention of the video could result in charges being filed against those possessing it.

Officials remind everyone that the creation and retention of pornographic material involving children is a crime and it will be prosecuted to the fullest extent that the law allows.
