
Atlantic City Police — Important Instructions — 24 Inches Of Snow?
This just might be “The Perfect Storm.” The Atlantic City, New Jersey Police Department has issued a very important advisory (and, important instructions) regarding the potential for a significant snow event.
Atlantic City Police Have Advised
The City of Atlantic City is preparing for a severe and dangerous winter storm expected to impact the region beginning Sunday, February 22, 2026, and continuing through midnight Monday, February 24, with potential impacts extending into Tuesday, said the Atlantic City Police Department.

According to the National Weather Service, Atlantic City could receive up to 24 inches of snow, with wind gusts up to 52 mph, creating blizzard conditions, whiteout visibility, and extremely hazardous travel con-ditions. Moderate coastal flooding is forecast for late Sunday evening and potentially again around midday Monday, which may further impact roadways and municipal operations, said the Atlantic City Police Department.
It Is Rare For A Barrier Island To Receive Such A Large Amount Of Snow
The conditions have to be perfect. The Wind, temperature and storm formation.
The Downbeach had memorable large snow accumulation storms in 1978 and and winter cyclone of 1993 … called a storm of the century. It spawned tornadoes and derechos.
Atlantic City Police Urge
Residents to understand that this winter storm presents a serious threat to life and safety.
You are strongly discouraged from traveling, unless it is an absolute emergency.
The Atlantic City Public Works Department
The City of Atlantic City Department of Public Works has initiated full storm operations, including brining, salting, and plowing. Crews will be deployed continuously throughout the event. Residents are asked not to drive so Public Works crews can safely and efficiently clear roadways for emergency access by police, fire, and medical responders. The Emergency Operations Center will be open from Sunday evening until Monday evening, but that timeline could be extended if necessary do to conditions, said the Atlantic City Police Department.
Atlantic City Will Also Be Enforcing Snow Emergency Routes
Any vehicles that are parked along these designated routes will be towed. This will be in effect from Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 4:00 p.m., until Tuesday morning.

Parking For Residents & Visitors of Atlantic City
The City of Atlantic City has asked the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) for free parking for Atlantic City residents and visitors at the following locations through at least Tuesday, weather permitting:
Wave Parking Garage, corner of Mississippi and Fairmount Avenues (second floor).
Showboat Hotel Parking Garage 804 Pacific Avenue.
The City of Atlantic City Urges
The City strongly encourages residents to check on neighbors, particularly elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and those with mobility or medical needs, and to assist safely where possible.
Atlantic City residents are encouraged to sign up for AC Alerts at: https://www.acnj.gov/pages/acalerts to receive emergency text and email notitications. The City also urges the public to closely monitor forecasts, warnings, and advisories issued by the National Weather Service and all City Social Media sites for updates on this event.
