More Than Century-Old Atlantic City Family Bakery Is Set To Expand
Since George Norcross purchased the legendary Formica Brothers Bakery in Atlantic City, New Jersey — the reinvestment in this more than century-old bakery has been extraordinary.
Norcross Has Successfully Rebranded It, Formica — Freitag Bakery

If you’re wondering why a multi-millionaire like George Norcross would get involved with a local Atlantic City bakery — that was failing at the time that he decided to invest substantial 7-figures into the operations — it’s a great story.
George Norcross’ Father & Grandmother Are From The Legendary Freitag Bakery
Norcross’ interest in Formica Brothers Bakery comes from this very personal love of the bakery business (from his own childhood) and his fondness of Frank Formica.
Norcross’ Father was born in Camden, New Jersey and his Grandmother was from the German bakery Freitag, also located in Camden.

Breaking News — Major Expansion For Formica

Formica Freitag Bakery, the century-old family bakery rooted in Atlantic City, is planning a major expansion as demand for its signature Atlantic City bread continues to grow across regional and national markets.
The Formica Freitag Atlantic City Bread is the gold standard for “Italian Bread” and Atlantic City-style sub rolls.
Look At This “Lobster House Everything Bread”

The incredible bread (pictured above) is served every day at the iconic Lobster House in Cape May, New Jersey.
You can purchase this to go from the adjacent Lobster House retail store (see below):

The Lobster House is one of our favorite restaurants. I only recently learned that their signature “Everything Bread” is a Formica Freitag Bakery product.
Hardly anyone leaves this bread behind and the Lobster House has perfectly fitted bags so that patrons can take it home with them (see below).

About The Upcoming Formica Freitag Expansion
The company has outgrown its current production footprint and is seeking a substantially larger, state-of-the-art facility at up to 75,000 square feet in the Atlantic City region to increase production, support expanding distribution and create capacity for continued growth. Formica Freitag's frozen Atlantic City bread is now distributed in markets across the country, complementing the company's longstanding fresh regional business. The large facility would provide the production capacity and technology needed to serve both as the company continues to scale. Our family started with a local bakery and a dream, said Frank D. Formica, grandson of Francesco and Rosa Formica. Three generations and 107 years later, that dream has grown beyond anything our grandparents could have imagined. We are enormously proud of where we came from, but we are even more excited about where Formica Freitag Bakery is going.
The Star Of The Show
Remains the fresh Atlantic City sub bread, that is still made using the baking traditions, recipes and standards that have defined the Formica name for more than a century.
"Atlantic City is where our family started. That heritage is part of our product, part of our family and part of who we are,” said Formica.
Going Forward

Formica Freitag intends to continue growing its fresh regional business … while seeking to expand the national distribution of its frozen Atlantic City bread.
