Egg Harbor Township Man Dies After Jeep Crashes Into Box Truck
Egg Harbor Township, N.J. — A 64-year-old Egg Harbor Township man is dead after police said his Jeep veered off a road and crashed head-on into a stopped box truck Wednesday afternoon.
Isaac Wogansky died at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center following the 2:43 PM crash on the 1700 block of Somers Point-Mays Landing Road.
What Happened
According to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, a 2019 Freightliner box truck being driven by 46-year-old Jason Chippendale of Paulsboro had stopped in traffic to unload building materials before reversing down a long driveway.
Witnesses told police traffic had slowed in both directions while drivers waited for the truck to reverse down the driveway.
Wogansky, who was driving westbound in a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was unable to stop in time, according to authorities. His vehicle left the roadway to the right, traveled along a dirt shoulder, re-entered the road, and then struck the front of the box truck head-on.
Wogansky was treated at the scene by the EHT ambulance squad and AtlantiCare paramedics before being taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Trauma Unit, where he later died.
Police Continue Investigating Fatal Crash
The crash is being investigated by EHTPD Sgt. Ed Stearns and Ofcs. Bob Moran, Tom Rizzotte, and Kevin Brady. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call (609) 926-4021.
