He still plays the trumpet at age 105. George Cappuccio is a World War II Veteran who lives in Hammonton, New Jersey.

George Cappuccio is part of the generation that literally saved the world.
More than 16.4 million Americans served in World War II. Only about 45,000 are still alive today. That’s just 0.5 percent. They’re almost all gone.
We are losing World War II Veterans at the rate of 150 Veterans who pass away daily.
George Cappuccio Will Be Honored
On the special occasion of George’s 105th Birthday.
When: Saturday, February 21, 2026
Where: The Hammonton American Legion Post 186, which invites you to attend a very special event and the cutting of George’s 105th birthday cake at 3:30 p.m.
Note: The American Legion Riders Post 352 will be escorting veteran George Cappuccio at 12:30 p.m. from Pratt Street and George will be “given a hero's ride through the city of Hammonton down through Bellevue Avenue,” said American Legion Post 186 Commander Joey Baez.

We encourage all Hammonton residents to participate by lining up on both sides of the street on Bellevue Avenue waving flags and cheering our town hero. Let's honor a life of service and sacrifice as we wish our town Hero a Happy 105th Birthday, said Baez.
My Father, Thomas J. Hurley
My Father heroically served in World War II, earning The Bronze Star Medal and two Purple Hearts.
