Here’s Why Atlantic City, NJ PBA Has Endorsed Indicted Mayor
On its face, it appears outrageous. Imagine, a local police department has formally endorsed their criminally indicted Mayor for reelection in 2025.
THIS IS NO JOKE
It sounds like a bad joke, but, this really did happen in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
I have known for weeks that this was coming.
First, it is wrong for sworn police officers to endorse in this manner.
HERE’S WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED
Now, let me explain why they did it.
Make no mistake about it, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has been supportive of Jim Sarkos, Chief of Police and Small has been very supportive of the Atlantic City Poluce department.
Small has supported promotions and salary increases.
PBA PRESIDENT COMMENTS IN SUPPORT OF MARTY SMALL
We have obtained a copy of a quote that was initially received by David Wildstein, Founder, Editor and Publisher of the New Jersey Globe.
Wildstein was the first to break this story. The quote is from Jules Schwenger, President of the Atlantic City PBA Local 24:
Since taking office, your (Marty Small) commitment to public safety and community partnerships has strengthened our ability to protect and serve the residents of Atlantic City. We have seen increased resources for training, modernized equipment and more effective communication channels. Because of your steadfast support and the stellar work of our professional force, crime rates have declined, said Schwenger (about Small).
MARTY SMALL HAS MOUNTING LEGAL ISSUES
Marty Small currently faces multiple criminal charges involving alleged child abuse of his own daughter. Small was also indicted by a second Atlantic County Grand Jury for alleged witness tampering.
The fact that sworn police officers would make this type of endorsement, under these precarious circumstances is astounding.
SMALL PROVIDES BIG SUPPORT TO ATLANTIC CITY POLICE
Yet, there is no question that Marty Small has been consistently staunch in his support of the Atlantic City Police Department.
The Atlantic City PBA decided to return the favor to Marty Small.
Marty Small desperately needed this Atlantic City PBA endorsement to offset his current horrific public image.
It’s a case of sworn police officers voting for their own self interests, without taking into consideration the interests of the public
Marty Small faces Bob McDevitt in the fast approaching, Tuesday, June 10, 2025 Democrat primary election for Mayor of Atlantic City.
