Gloucester County, NJ, Man Sentenced For Drug Trafficking

A Gloucester County man has been sentenced for trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl in South Jersey and Philadelphia.

48-year-old John Munson of Deptford had previously pleaded guilty to one count possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to 48 months behind bars.

His codefendant, 26-year-old Kevin Salmon of Philadelphia, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiring to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine and distributing methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison this past March.

U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger's office says Munson admitted obtaining methamphetamine from the conspiracy in order to distribute the drugs to others while Salmon acted as a runner for the organization that distributed methamphetamine and fentanyl.

In addition to the prison term, Munson was sentenced to three years of supervised release.

Sellinger thanked the numerous law enforcement agencies that were involved in this case, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI, eight local police departments, several district attorney's offices, and the New Jersey State Police.
