What Flew Off NJ Shelves (and What Didn’t) Before the Blizzard of 2026
Everyone in New Jersey has been abuzz over the past several days with feet of snow in the forecast and the word "blizzard" being thrown around, so I, like you, hit my local supermarket to stock up on things that I already had.
And, heading into Sunday, I was prepared for whatever Mother Nature had in store.
When Sunday morning rolled around, I realized I was a little low on some healthy snacks (i.e. chips), so I decided to revisit my local supermarket, if for no other reason, to get chips and to see how my fellow citizens were doing.
They did not disappoint.
As I walked around my nearby supermarket just hours before the end of the world was about to hit, I started to take note as to what everyone was buying and, even better, what people had absolutely no interest in having on-hand for this snowstorm.
I expected there to be a COVID-like run on toilet paper, but there was plenty on the shelves. That surprised me.
Pasta seemed to be a big seller... and then things went downhill from there.
Just hours before the big storm and chicken was hard to find, as one would expect.
The same could be said for ground beef...
Over in produce, that area was picked clean -- except carrots. Apparently, no one likes carrots in New Jersey.
I mean, why buy carrots when you can have cake? Am I right?
Got milk? Hope so, 'cause there wasn't much to be had.
And then there was the egg case... it has apocalyptic vibes.
And what would a snowstorm in New Jersey be without pork roll? And I know what you are thinking -- $16 for pork roll?! That was for a huge box of it.
As for what there was a lot of, apparently, people would rather go hungry than eat plant-based food. There was plenty of that to go around.
Stay safe, New Jersey!
