North Jersey Man Charged After 2-year-old Needed Narcan in Wildwood

Wildwood, N.J. — A North Jersey man vacationing in Wildwood is facing child endangerment charges after authorities said a two-year-old in his care needed two doses of Narcan and was rushed to the hospital, where preliminary blood tests later came back positive for cocaine.

39-year-old Alexander T. Moles of Ringwood, Passaic County, was arrested on July 21st and lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Facility. He was released with conditions following a detention hearing on Friday.

Child Needed Narcan

According to the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, on July 20th, the North Wildwood Fire Department responded to the area of 21st and New Jersey Avenues for a report of a sick two-year-old. Moles was driving the child to the hospital because the boy was having difficulty breathing.

EMS administered two doses of Narcan at the scene, to which the child responded, before he was taken to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional.

Preliminary blood tests came back positive for cocaine in the toddler's system.

Wildwood Police and the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit launched a joint investigation. Investigators determined Moles had been vacationing at a home in Wildwood with the child when the boy became ill.

Charges

Moles was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree possession of cocaine, fourth-degree possession of prescription legend drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit at (609) 465-1135.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
